Wedding gown, headdress, veil and shoes, 1939, donated by Mrs Val Hamilton, 2008.80

Tairawhiti Museum is most fortunate to have this beautiful satin wedding outfit in its collection. It was worn at the wedding of Hazel Doris Mitchell to Alfred James Morshead at St Andrews Church, Tolaga Bay, on 21 June 1939. A lengthy article was published in the Poverty Bay Herald praising the beauty of the wedding and the dress of the bridal party. The dress was donated to the museum by the bride’s niece.
