2003 Archives
Below is a list of exhibitions for the year 2003 :
- Buck & LOULOU - paintings.
4 February - 20 March - main gallery
- Te Ao Whanui - the wider picture. Bruce Green photographer
14 February - 18 March Bruce Green is a mental health professional with a passion for photography. This exhibition managed to combine the both. Five people who have experienced mental health were brave enough to allow themselves to be exposed to the public eye through the lens of a camera. "I talked and gave them a chance to talk, rather than just going on my perceptions. I asked them how they would like to be portrayed. I am very happy with the results". Bruce Green.
- Est kost - photography
21 February - 20 March Two photographers Andrew Hill and Lee Harrop joined forces to produce an eclectic collection of photographic story lines. Andrew was invited by local iwi Ngai Tamanuhiri to record the occupation and protest against the impending sale of the historical Te Kuri a Paoa/Young Nicks Head to an American buyer. Lee's story line moved from London Street, where in one frame the tattooed face of a gang member appears above a fortress-fenceline to colourful beach scenes and flowers.
